1. Boston Terrier

As the name suggests, the Boston Terrier is an all-American dog. It's part of the Toy group. This Beantown baby is a lot tougher than it looks. They're friendly and easy to train which makes them perfect companion and family dogs. At 10-25 pounds, they will be quite content to stay with you, whether you're chilling on the couch or up for a walk.
2. Pomeranian

Pomeranians are curious dogs, alert and mischievous. They are also social butterflies that can work well with human families. Weighing 3-7 pounds, these little furballs are cute and cuddly. With its confident stance and long flowing fur, this beauty's name comes from a Chinese word "Lion Dog." Originally bred as a family companion, the Shih Tzu is extremely friendly, and most importantly, gentle with children. They make an excellent leg warmer with a weight range of 9-16 pounds.
5. Bichon Frise
The Bichon Frise is one of the healthiest breeds, easily reaching their early to mid-teens. They're also extremely smart and love flaunting their skills. And because they're playful and energetic, they're great with kids. Weighing between 10-20 pounds, most Bichons love to snuggle into laps and pillows.
6. Pug
Their wrinkled face, bulgy eyes, short legs, and charming personality make the Pug a comedic companion. And though they can be headstrong at times, the Pug is generally pleasant and satisfying. With an average weight between 13 and 20 pounds, a pug will happily nestle in your lap or any warm, comfortable place.
7. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Being friendly and easy-going, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel makes an extremely popular family dog. They're also very affectionate and thrive on interacting with people of all ages. They weigh between 10-18 pounds which is just the right size for snuggling.
8. Dachshund
Their stubby legs and sausage-shaped body are unmistakable. They can be reserved towards strangers but loyal to their families. A full-grown standard dachshund averages 16 to 31 pounds, while the miniature variety normally weighs less than 12 pounds.
9. Maltese

With a silky white coat and shoe-button eyes, the Maltese has earned enduring popularity by combining cute with a lively, brave, and confident personality. This breed doesn't shed much, so it’s an excellent choice if you have allergies. Usually less than 9 pounds, this small dog is perfect for lap sitting.
10. Havanese

Typically, the Havanese is easily trained and tends to be very intelligent. They generally weigh as little as 7 to 13 pounds - the perfect size for snoozing on your lap or joining you for a lazy Netflix afternoon.
