Lexi Reed had had issues with her weight since childhood. By the age of 25, Lexi weighed in at 392 pounds and the extra pounds were greatly impacting her life. Lexi confessed, "I was always an emotional eater, also, and no matter what the mood, food was always there for me."
Being overweight, the pair could not do many things other people could, such as going on romantic walks, going hiking, or going bilking. Lexi couldn't even realise her dream of visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Universal Studios theme park because she was too big to fit in a plane seat. Unfortunately, bigger challenges were ahead of her due to her weight issue.
When Lexi and Danny finally decided to get married, finding a suitable wedding dress proved to be challenging because she weighed a staggering 485 pounds. "Nobody knew how to make me feel like a bride, and not my size." Luckily, Lexi eventually found the right dress for her beautiful wedding day, but her problems were just getting started.
After their marriage the question of having kids came up, and the dangers that both Lexi and the baby would face. Lexi began to feel that things were spiraling out of her control, and felt that she had to make some changes for her own sake. On New Year's Day in 2016, Lexi resolved to start living a healthy lifestyle, and this resolution ended up changing her life forever.
"At first the idea didn't sound great because it was always good going home, sitting down, eating and not having to worry about anything," Danny exclaimed. Health-wise, however, he knew the change was best for both Lexi and himself. Therefore, Danny joined his wife's New Year's resolution. They even made a bet with their friends. But their journey to a healthy life was to be far from easy.
They found a local gym that wasn't too crowded, and Lexi (who was suffering from severe joint pains due to her weight) found the right training regimen. "Since it was never really crowded, my machine faced the wall (so I didn't feel like everyone was watching me), and I found a machine called the CrossRamp that didn't hurt my joints at 485 pounds, I fell in love with it."
Aside from going to the gym once a day, Lexi and Danny also stopped going out to eat at restaurants. Instead, they started to cook healthier food at home themselves. Dieting is, of course, not easy, but to Lexi and Danny, their new healthy eating habits were not just a diet, but a new way of life that they would stick to.
It isn't easy to keep going to the gym and eating healthy alone. Luckily, the couple had the support of each other. Together they stayed motivated and kept their promise. Soon the results began to show! Lexi even started taking classes and meeting new friends who also turned into her support system and held her accountable. "I love my Pulse class. I love dancing to my favorite music and not feeling like it's a workout."
Lexi quickly got over her fears of going to the gym, declaring "if people were going to stare at me because of my weight, I was going to give them a reason to stare by being the hardest worker in the room." In the first month, Lexi lost around 20 pounds. She kept going to the gym and eating healthy and soon turned the new habits into a lifestyle.
Beside Lexi every step of the journey, Danny also made significant progress. By the end of year one, Danny managed to get down from 280 pounds to mere 190 pounds. By May 2018, Lexi was down an incredible 312 pounds, and looked completely different. The true moment of pride was when she went back to her favorite restaurant, and found she had lots of wiggle room instead of resting her stomach on the table.
To keep a record of her journey, Lexi created an Instagram account called "Fat Girl Fed Up" in the fall of 2016. She posted daily pictures of herself exercising in the gym and stunning before and after photos, along with motivational quotes. The account now has over 750,000 followers. Through hard work and determination, Lexi has changed completely in just two years.
Lexi and Danny's story spread like wildfire on the internet, and they were soon interviewed about their amazing journey by news and TV stations nationwide. The couple even appeared on the TV show, Rachael Ray, sharing secrets about healthy cooking and eating. Despite their newfound stardom, Lexi and Danny stay humble and thank the media for helping motivate them further on their journey to living healthier.
Lexi and Danny together have lost over 400 pounds and are now both down to a healthy weight. "Every day is a non-scale victory and a reminder of how far I've come. Like, I loved myself even at 485 pounds, but just to be able to wake up and do whatever I want to do and go wherever I want to go… I don't feel like I'm a prisoner in my own body anymore," Lexi said, looking forward to the days to come.

Lexi advises losing weight naturally, against taking any magic pill or surgery. "Start small, small changes add up to big results, and focus on each day, not how far you have to go," Lexi further advised.
Lexi's tried-and-true tips for shedding pounds include eating homemade meals with healthy ingredients instead of processed or packaged foods, going to the gym and working it into social activities, having a strong community of support both online and offline, and finding friends who live a healthy lifestyle. All these things have helped Lexi make her astounding transformation.
Another secret for staying in great shape has been incorporating their healthy lifestyle into all the new, fun activities they do. One example was when they went camping, the couple prepared scrumptious high-protein meals such as chicken, steak, and avocado, instead of hot dogs or hamburgers. Lexi wrote in a post, "holidays, weekends, or even being out of your routine doesn't mean we can't still reach our goals and eat delicious food!"
Lexi's story was so inspiring that she was invited to the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards and was chosen by Loreal Paris and TNT Drama as one of their inspiring strong women. Lexi and Danny were also interviewed by Megyn Kelly about how they managed to make their drastic lifestyle change on the Today Show.
